CityBlock makes key finance hire

CityBlock, a leading provider in the development and management of high quality student accommodation across the UK, has made a key hire to its management team, bringing onboard Dan Tomkins as Head of Finance.

Dan spent 14 years at KPMG as Senior Audit Manager and four years at The Westmorland Group, which owns Tebay and Gloucester services, before joining CityBlock as Head of Finance in December 2017.

CityBlock currently offers student accommodation in Lancaster, Reading and Durham, having also previously developed properties in Leicester. The development of each property is based on comprehensive research undertaken with undergraduate and post-graduate students, both from the UK and international. CityBlock then expertly manages and maintains the property to deliver an exceptional experience alongside outstanding levels of customer service.

As CityBlock looks to expands its property portfolio across the country, branching into the residential market, the new position was created to ensure all commercial decisions have the guidance of a senior financial advisor. Dan has been brought on board to assist the management team on financing options for current and future developments, and will oversee all elements of finance processes, ensuring systems are as streamlined and efficient as possible, integrating this with wider business procedures.

Dan said of his appointment: “This is a pivotal time for CityBlock, with lots of developments and progress for the company in the pipeline. The next few months will be focused on building on the successes of the past, of which there are many, and this is something I am very excited to be a part of.”
