CityBlock expands into the residential housing market with launch of The Urban Project

CityBlock is expanding into the residential housing market with the launch of The Urban Project.

With a successful track record in the student accommodation market, CityBlock has established The Urban Project to help meet the ever-increasing demand for first class city homes.

The new arm of the business will uphold the unique history and heritage of buildings it develops to provide soulful living spaces in cities across the UK, with the first development expected to be completed towards the end of 2018.

Developments in the portfolio will be designed to the highest specification to create inspirational inner-city homes for sale to owner-occupiers, with a focus on great quality and creating unique living experiences.

In order to manage the residential side of the business, CityBlock has appointed Andrew Bargh as Urban Design Manager. Andrew, who has experience as a Design Engineer, will lead The Urban Project, overseeing everything from land acquisition through to the delivery of fit for purpose developments.

Martin Crews, Development Director of CityBlock, said of the move: “Expanding into the residential market has been our goal at CityBlock for a long time, with lots of exciting plans in place behind the scenes, so we are delighted to now be able to launch The Urban Project.

“Andrew’s knowledge of both the design process and the residential housing market makes him the ideal person to lead this new arm of the business. CityBlock has a proven track record of providing quality purpose-built student accommodation and we are confident we can use this experience to build and create high quality and unique urban homes.”

The Urban Project has acquired its first site, which is located in the Jewellery Quarter area of Birmingham, more news of which will follow in the coming weeks.
